History

Wedeven Associates, Inc. was incorporated under the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on December 10, 1987. The company initiated operations by providing research testing services and consulting. In July 1988, after more than a year in development, a prototype test machine, WAM1, was initiated into the service for the development of lubricants and bearing materials. After more than a decade of continual development, customized WAM machines are being used for tribology research at SKF Engineering Research Center, Timken Research Center, Alcoa Technical Center, and a university (RPI). The machines and testing processes are covered under a U.S. Patent.

Today, the business is integrated into research and product development of major aerospace companies and the military, both in the U.S. and U.K. The company focuses on three areas: (1) testing services, (2) consulting, and (3) specialized tribology test machines. The mission of the company is to revolutionize the way tribology technology is created and applied. The company plays an active role in advancing lubrication and bearing technologies for aeropropulsion, automotive, and heavy-duty equipment. Major tribology contributions have been made in the areas of: Space Shuttle Main Engine Turbopumps bearings, rocket engine bearings and gears, development and qualification of jet engine oils and bearing materials, and extreme environment testing methods.

Values

Wedeven Associates, Inc's business values have grown from our culture statement, our philosophy, purpose, and mission statements. These values are foundational to our goal-setting; policy-shaping; decision-making; and work-execution.

  1. Revolutionary Thinking: We value the role each employee plays in helping to revolutionize the way tribology technology is created and applied. While not all employees may contribute directly to this value, it is the supportive attitude toward creating a positive and entrepreneurial environment that we're looking for.
  2. Fundamental Understanding: We value and employee's understanding of our technical and people capabilities, and his/her understanding of how these assets can positively impact future growth of Wedeven Associates, Inc. We want everyone to be on board and to see the big picture.
  3. Empowerment Performance: We value recognition of the significant role each employee has—or is able to create—and equipping the employee professionally to positively impact the company's future through working together toward "Peak Performance." If the first two values are in place, there is opportunity and expectation for productive and fulfilling work.
  4. Teamwork: We value positive thoughts, words, and actions, which create an environment conductive to greater innovation, quality service, and job satisfaction. A broad range of people skills and characteristics is healthy for a small business with big ideas. Understanding and respecting our differences and placing value on the positive contributions each person can make is required.
  5. Worthy Profit: We value making profit a justifiable spin-off from worthy and quality activity. We do not short-change our customer or accept second-best performance.
  6. Personal Growth: We value an employee's accepting challenge and daring to change. Job or financial achievement is not success unless there is personal growth in areas that really matter in life. It's the journey that's important.
